Asian inspired, small fiber art / mixed media piece titled "Good Fortune Family Altar". This batik art quilt measures 17 by 22 inches and is perfect for Asian or modern decor.
The piece was inspired by a photograph by Tanya at Somewhere in Saigon of an altar at a restaurant where I had eaten. I minimized her details into an abstract piece using batiks and added a photo transfer of one of my own photos of Buddhas from Cambodia. Additional details include hand dyed & painted vintage lace, hand made & commercial beads, and painted rice paper. Raw edge appliqué with machine stitching & quilting. Photo transfer onto fabric & embellished with machine stitching, hand stitched lace & the beads. The vases on either side of the altar are rice paper which has been mono printed with metallic paint.
22 inches long and 17 inches high. The piece could be mounted or framed. I will add a hanging sleeve on request at no extra charge of you want to hang using a rod or dowel.
