This fiber art is all about color and texture! Inspired by the colors in the background fabric, I chose a piece of hand dyed wool to cut up and weave for the focal point. This weaving was embellished with hand stitching using hand painted thread that provides even more color variation to the wool. The weaving which serves as the focal point was layered on a hand stitched small quilt which was then mounted to the background fabric which serves as a frame.
The background fabric was designed by an Australian artist, Denise Burkitt, who takes her inspiration from her travels around the Outback. The colors and textures I added to her work combined into a unique piece of fiber art.
Finished piece is 14 in wide by 16 in high and has a sleeve on the back for use for a decorative rod or dowel for hanging.
