"Coming Together" combines hand dyed fabrics from Indonesian, Africa, and the US. The colors of the three pieces I used in creating this art quilt spoke to me as did the lines and textures in each piece. The fabric on the left was a remnant of Combanasi batik from a tunic I had made, the textured rust fabric on the right was from a social enterprise organization in Africa teaching women a skill, and the center scare is a from an ice dyed piece of fabric from a friend that I manipulated.
The entire piece was hand stitched with hand painted threads. As I stitched, I thought of the talented women from different parts of the world whose work came together in my piece.
14.5 inches square, the quilt has a sleeve for hanging with a decorative rod or dowel.
